Wordless Book 1

A Boy, A Dog, and A Frog

When looking at wordless picture books I chose this one because I always loved Mercer Mayer as an author with the Little Critter series. This is definitely an older book probably from the beginning of wordless picture books.
It shows the story of a day when a boy and his dog want to go frog catching.  The boy and his dog try very hard to catch the frog who keeps hopping out of reach.  Check out this story to see if they catch the frog.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars. This story is very simple for young children and only has one picture per page, which makes it easier for very young kids to focus on what is happening since there are no words.  However, the book has very little color and small pictures that do not stretch on the whole page.

Title: A boy, a dog, and a Frog

  1. This looks like a fun read for a child. I like the use of rhyming words, dog and frog. I thin that makes the story easier to remember for a child.

  2. This looks like a good book for my house in terms of the main characters! Would the plot lend itself to simple sequencing activities?

  3. this book brings me back to my childhood of when i used to try to catch the frogs too! i agree with Bethanym, the rhyming must make it easier to learn like how we discussed in class.
